The role of Audyogik Sahyog Kendra (ASK) is to function as technology incubation facility and to cater to the technological demands of scientific instruments industry. The ASK is also mandated to act as a common facility centre for infusion of latest technologies leading to improvements in the quality, productivity, precision and standardization of existing and new products.
Chandigarh is a growing city and is the hub of the region of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. Over the years Chandigarh has enabled itself to be a rich resource center conducive for the growth & setting up of any modern industry particularly Agro, Pharma, Mechinery, Electronics and Information Technology; supported by the prestigious R&D and Educational institutions in its vicinity. Though well connected by road and rail, with its new International Airport at Mohali, Chandigarh has become major hub of connectivity to the northwestern region of the country.
Apart from big industrial brands, small scale industries in Ambala, Baddi, Parwanoo, Ludhiana, Lalru, Yamuna Nagar, Karnal, Panchkula, Bhiwani, Hisar, Panipat, Jhajjar, Rewari, Bahadurgarh and Rohtak have earned a good name for the region not only in the national but also in the international markets. However, a case study on Ambala scientific instruments industry suggest stiff competition at international level and lack of technologies and resources are either killing the industries or forcing them to migrate to other sectors (especially trading), other industrial sectors not being immune to this phenomenon. This calls for an integrated fast track approach wherein; standardization, technological gap filling, testing & certification, skill enhancement, innovation and incubation of products are taken care of. |
